Want to be a 4-H or FFA Dairy Goat Judge?

County Fairs are constantly looking for qualified individuals to judge youth dairy goat shows.  No special certification is required just a knowledge of dairy goats and an interest in working with youth.  Even if you have not judged before, this may be your time! The MDGA is organizing a list of interested individuals that can be shared when county fairs contact the association.  If you would like to be considered for the list, contact Larry Marquette  and provide a brief description of your experience with dairy goats and youth.

MDGA Outstanding Youth

Each Year the MDGA Names an Outstanding Youth.
We encourage you to nominate an outstanding individual.

2015 - Kirsten Rae Barott

2012 - Lexy Heldt

    2009 - Danielle Gunder

Danielle, as a 12th grade student of the Agricultural & Food Science Academy, was an honor roll student, AFSA ambassador, FFA member and 4-H member. In 2009, she had Nigerian Dwarf goats for three years and was a member of MDGA, AGS and ADGA.  She had competed in club goat shows, 4-H shows and the Goat Quiz Bowl.  Besides goats, Danielle was very involved with her horse, rabbit, and dog 4-H projects and won many top honors.

2008 - Lauren Schifsky

In 2008, Lauren was a Junior at AFSA (a charter school for agriculture, foods and science). Lauren’s interest in goats started when she got 2 pygmy goats as her sixth birthday present. She was instantly “hooked” on goats from that day on. She has had many breeds through the years, but fell in love with the Nigerians and built her herd from her original first 4 Nigerians. Lauen's youth activities included 4-H, the Northland Pet Goat Club, MDGA, FFA, Saddle Club trail rides, county fairs and state fairs. Lauren also wrote for the GGG.
