9:00 AM – 1:00 PM Goat Ornament Craft self-serve activity . Be sure to paint and
decorate your favorite so that it will be dry and ready to travel home. (In Person only while supplies last)

Main Session – In Person & Virtual Options 

9:00 AM – 1:00 PM Reproductive Performance
From breeding records to kidding records, a focus on
breeding outcomes and how to measure the reproductive
performance of your herd. Dr. Rowe will discuss
recognition and diagnosis of reproductive failures
including abortion, early embryonic death, mummies,
placental failure and more.
Introductions & Game

11:00 AM Housing and Ventilation
Dr. Schefers will discuss housing and ventilation and its
effects on animal health and performance with a goal of
providing fresh, uniform air throughout a barn and
reducing dust, pathogen, manure gas and heat to ensure
a healthy environment and reduce disease on your farm.

Noon Lunch – MDGA Update, ADGA Update, Silent auction, and raffle tables

1:00 PM CST Interactive workshop & Case examination
Dr. Rowe will facilitate an interactive workshop including
case examination of reproductive diseases as well as
discussing problems including short and long cycling in
does and infectious causes of reproductive failure.

About our Speakers:

Joan Dean Rowe, DVM, MPVM, PhD, DACVPM
Professor Emeritus
School of Veterinary Medicine
University of California, Davis, CA
Dr. Rowe is a Professor Emeritus of the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California, Davis.
She holds D.V.M., M.P.V.M., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Davis. Dr. Rowe
retired after a 30-year career as a faculty member and clinician on the VMTH Livestock Herd Health &
Reproduction Service where she worked with dairy goat, dairy cattle, sheep & meat goat herds across
a wide range of herd size and management systems. Dr. Rowe is the past-president of the American
Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners. Dr. Rowe serves on multiple professional and industry
committees relating to livestock health. She raises Toggenburg dairy goats and serves on the American
Dairy Goat Association Board of Directors, most recently served as ADGA 1st Vice President. Dr. Rowe
maintains strong professional interests in preventive livestock health management, infectious abortion,
traceability, reproductive performance, CAEV and small ruminant medications.

Dr. Jeremy Schefers DVM, PhD
Ruminant Technical Research Specialist
Milk Specialties Global (MSG)
Jeremy Schefers DVM, PhD is a ruminant technical and research specialist at Milk Specialties Global.
He received his PHD in 2010 from the College of Veterinary Medicine at UMN. Prior to working at MSG,
he was a food animal diagnostician at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.
His presentation will review ventilation, housing and environmental challenges of livestock facilities.
